Happy Anniversary To My Blog

I can’t believe it’s been three years since I started getting more serious with my blog.

As I look back to some previous articles I think “What was I thinking”?

Example my third post titled, Why Do I Work From Home I wrote because I was hoping to start up in an MLM company and be able to stay working at home.

I loved the freedom to do what I wanted when I wanted. However a greater being had other plans for me.

I believe now that not everyone is meant to be in a network marketing company and be a top performer. Okay I hear the doubters and the I told you so’s screaming and laughing at me.

It takes alot to get people involved in your home business. To buy the product your selling and trying to recruit others below you to actually make decent money.

Yes I still believe in network marketing. However it just hasn’t been working out for me. Oh I can hear it all now.. Did you do this and that? Yes and yes!!!

Three year doesn’t seem like that long ago. I thought I just started yesterday ha ha ha.

Happy reading!

3 New Techniques To Spruce Up Your Blog

Weather we like it or not Spring is here. Oh sure it’s snowing right now here in Aurora, CO but that doesn’t change the fact that Spring it here.

When one thinks of Spring it usually means cleaning up inside your home. Dusting, vacuuming and a good deep sprucing up. What’s the purpose? I believe it’s to throw out the winter blues and bring in the sweet smeels and sounds of the new season.

Which lead me to thinking how do I spruce up my blog?

First

Scroll through your blog post see if there are some older ones that you may want to delete. As I looked back I found one or two and I was bewildered at how I came to write them.

Secondly

Repurpose your articles. On December 19, 2015 I wrote this article on how to repurpose your content. It’s really not as hard as you maybe thinking.

Some of the best tips for bloggers come from my fellow Power Affiliate Club Authors. Check us out see how we can help you.

Still scared to repurpose your content?

Go ahead try it, you will be amazed at your self and what you can accomplish.

Lastly

Enter a blogging challenge, increase your vocabulary, use images in your articles. Images help raise the bar of your posts.

Comment on others posts, this will increase traffic to your site as well.

Hope these tips helped you out.

As always,

Why I Started Writing A Bolg

I don’t claim to be a professional blogger.  But then what is a professional blogger?

I found an interesting article by professional blogger John Saddington titled The Definition of a ‘Professional Blogger’ or ‘Full Time Blogger’ In this post he explains a few different viewpoints.

There are a number of differing viewpoints and not one of them is necessarily incorrect; in fact, anyone has the full right to call themselves a ‘Full Time Blogger‘ or ‘Professional Blogger’ regardless of any outside opinion. But, there seems to be an understanding, both cultural and nuanced, about what it means to be ‘Pro.’

Just think about it for a moment, especially as it relates to professions and jobs in other areas – What do you think of when you say that so and so is a Professional? You probably assume a number of things, right?

I started my blog a few years ago just to voice my opinion about things going on in my life I am passionate about.   Learning how to fine tune, hone in, really dig deeper into the fine art of blogging came from meeting Lesly Federici owner and expert author of The Power Affiliate Club.  The PAC is a community of bloggers helping each other and offering advice.

I needed to have a voice

Writing my thoughts down and sharing with my readers gives me joy.  Mind you not all comments I receive are nice and thank you’s.  However for the most part people get interested and comment back.  Having your followers comment on any posted article is an honor.  I must be doing something right.

When I first started out my posts were short, not alot allot to read and I didn’t really post many images.   My  very first blog article Creating Your Brand looks absolutely pathetic now.

What was the point I was trying to convey to anyone?

How do you create more leads, more people to talk to when you’ve gone through your list and heard all the excuses and all the “NO’s” so many times?

Create a brand for yourself. What ??? What I mean is one must be willing to create a brand of themselves on the internet to attract the people they want into their business.”

That’s the jest of it.  No instructions given, no real helpful advice.   Not so much as even a link to another resource for help.

My main goal

For you , my readers to like what you’re reading and hopefully learn something new along the way.

My personal goal is to continue growing and learning about ways to improve my writing as well as my mindset for success.

I hope you found this enlightening and as always,

For A Single Moment We Forgot Hate

On August 21, 2017 something amazing happened.

Most of you are probably aware that there was a phenomena in the sky called a sloar eclipse.  The solar eclipse encapsulated the United States of America and the world for a few shinning moments.

When I saw this meme on Facebook posted by Damien Von Dunn I knew it spoke volumes.

Frederick R Barnard first wrote the phrase, ” One look is worth a thousand words“, in Printer’s Ink, December 1921.”

If one look is worth a thousand words then I found a picture worth a million.

Where were you during the solar eclipse?

Many people traveled across the country to catch a glimpse of totality while other’s stayed home, went to work or school.

Where was I?   I was at work in my office.  However one of my colleges brought in a pair of glasses to share with anyone who wanted to take a peek.   If you missed it click this link to see NASA’s Solar Eclipse Photos.

And for a single moment, our nation stopped, and looked up at the sky and forgot about hate

Lately I’ve been ashamed of the ugliness, hatred and bigotry gripping the United States of America.   What has happened to getting along with each other? Settling our differences in a calm and collective manner?

I’m not going to get on a soapbox here, however I am disgusted at the actions some people choose to participate in this past weekend.

Can we just all get along?

Where is the love?

Has love escaped us?  Has common sense left the world? Every man, women and child should be reaching deep into their hearts, finding the love, pulling it out and spreading it around.

Enough with wars, violence and hate.   Waylon Jennings said it best when he sang “Let’s get back to the basics of love”.

So another eclipse has come and gone.  The world stood silent in amazement for just a few moments in time forgetting all it’s cares and worries to bring peace.  I wonder when soldiers are fighting in war and on Christmas Eve if at one point they stop everything and listen for the peace?

I hope you found this inspiring and as always I welcome your feedback.

Damaging Self Talk

There is power in the tounge!

Think about that statement for just a moment.

Proverbs 15:1

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Now that the United States of America’s election is over I’ve heard and seen more anger and hatred that ever before.   What is the point of it all?Running ones mouth, speaking of hate and violence is not what America was founded upon.

Martin Luther King Jr

was one of the most outspoken and influential people of his time .   Are we as a nation forgetting the most important message he shared with the world ?

His speeches were not those of “go riot into the streets because you don’t like the outcome of a vote, go forth and beat each other up because you have different values and beliefs “

Oh I’m sure we have all heard or read his “I Have A Dream” speech.  In The 60’s he was ridiculed by his peers for things he said and made fun of.  It was the power of his words that began to change his life and the lives of those that followed him.

The I Have I Dream speech was his most famous; however there were other quotes which are fitting for today’s times.

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word. Martin Luther King, Jr

These are just a few.

Damaging Words

You have power in your words.

The words we speak bring love, hate, healing, irreparable damage, illnesses, unforgiveness, and forgiveness.

When was the last time you yourself made a positive statement about yourself ?

Do you tell yourself these things everyday ?

I am strong ! I am beautiful!

I show love and receive love!

When we confess positive statements out of our mouth they come to pass.  We may not see them come to forwichen right away.  Years, months or days later we start to believe what we say.  We stand a little taller, push our chest out a little more and walk with confidence knowing we are speaking positive things into the universe, which will come back to us.

Affirmations

Affirmations are one way to train your mind into positive thinking while speaking them out loud .

I found a great little gem on my Google search.

What Are Positive Affirmations

Great ideas for you to get started with improving your self talk.

Have You Published A Book

If you are an avid reader of my blog then you already know that I wrote a book.

Terror In The North Tower came from my background as a respiratory therapist.  This is a suspenseful fictional thriller with more twist than Grey’s Anatomy .
The Challenge To Edit And Publish

After much searching, phone calls and email I was starting to realize publishing wasn’t going to be so easy.  Through the Power Affiliate Club I met Monna Ellithorpe.  Known as The Blue Jean Writer, she helps other author’s edit and publish wonderful works of words.

Once she was done with editing and I approved it we set out sites on self publishing through Amazon.

Purchase Terror In The North Tower here.

Publishing hasn’t come without it’s challenges.

1. Marketing – self marketing is hard work .  Researching places that may or may not put your book in their businesses .

2. Social Media – getting the word out on social media is a time saber and huge benefit.  According to Search engine land

Social media marketing refers to the process of gaining traffic or attention through social media sites.

 The Hubspot shows marketing statistics

  • 61% of global Internet users research products online. (Interconnected World: Shopping and Personal Finance, 2012) Click to Tweet
  • Using this blog is one way of using social media.  Your reading this post right now.  Is it making you think?
  • Lastly blogging

Blogging gives the writer a chance to express themselves, showcases thoughts and ideas .  Yes I’ve published my first book and I’m working hard to market it.

Have you ever published a book?

Why Would You Ever Want A Mentor

What Is Mentorship?

According to Wikipedia

“Mentorship is a relationship in which a more experienced or more knowledgeable person helps to guide a less experienced or less knowledgeable person.”

What Are The Benefits Of Having A Mentor?

“A good mentor is willing to encourage, uplift, help set career goals, and business goals, learn a new set of skills to further your career or personal goals… and honor your dreams …”

On June 13, 2015, I wrote an article on my blog titled Advice Of Your Mentor(s)”. One of my favorite mentors is Eric Worre (and still is). He has a great collection of CDs and his popular book “GO Pro” is available here, all worth a look if you’re interested.

Here’s why I like Eric Worre. He’s been in network marketing for over twenty-five years. At one convention he had an ‘aha’ moment that changed his life forever. At that event, he decided to Go Pro and become a Network Marketing expert. Since that time he has done just that by encouraging other network marketers to challenge themselves with obtaining every goal set. Through his book and CDs, thousands of people learn methods and techniques which they can use to see a change in the way they market themselves and the companies they represent.

I admire this man for speaking out and wanting to help struggling network marketers. He coaches people on the “seven steps” it takes to go pro. Eric’s wish is for you to decide to become a Network Marketing Professional. For you to truly Go Pro. Because it is a stone-cold fact that Network Marketing is a better way for generating financial security.

Lesly Federici, RN amazes me every day. She’s a Registered Nurse and the CEO and owner of the Power Affiliate Club. (Sadly, the PAC is no more).

She is warm and encouraging, yet stern, and challenges every PAC member to be the very best they can be with their blogging skills. Whether a newbie or an experienced blogger, Lesly Federici makes people feel welcome and comfortable to ask questions about blogging. She coaches members to develop professional skills in writing, and blog presentation.

So What’s In It For Them?

The answer I would hope is to help others succeed with whatever they are trying to achieve. Some mentors just believe that they are truly helping people and want to see them succeed.

Think of it as leaving a legacy for others. As a mentor, you get to leave a lasting mark on society with the knowledge and wisdom that you have passed down to another person or group of people. Mentors have a great advantage to change the world around them for the better.

Finding The Right Mentor

  1. Find the teacher who has achieved what you want. No matter what you’re trying to accomplish a good mentor can assist you with getting the results.
  2. Check out more than one person. Some people just don’t click. Just because one person said, “Hey how are you, I can mentor you”, doesn’t mean they are the right fit for you. Be persistent in your search for the right mentors. If your mentor isn’t open and communicating with you after several attempts go find someone else that is willing to take the time to appreciate you and your goals.

Be Prepared

Be teachable! There is nothing worse than someone who says they want help from a mentor and then they aren’t willing to do what it takes to achieve their main goals.

Be willing to try over and over again if that‘s what it takes to create your visions and dreams into a reality.

Offer value to the person you want to mentor you. Show them that you are teachable, willing to work together in a partnership, and learn from them.

Well, I hope this article has helped you in some way. Please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.

Competing  In A Traffic Challenge

During the last four weeks I have been involved in the Power Affiliate Club  (PAC)  traffic challenge.

During this challenge we were assigned certain tasks.  Such as finding issues effecting other bloggers then write an article abd publish it on Tuesday.  Share this writing  and comment on other sites.

This leads me to comment hunting.

What Is Comment hunting?

This is where as a blogger you visit other sites, read an article, post a comment  and share.   Participating in this action helps drive traffic to your site because other bloggers may comment back and visit your site.

For example while doing research for this article I came across an article titled,  How to Get Influencers by Brian Dean.

After reading this and leaving a comment I have now enteracted with someone I didn’t know.

The Purpose

The purpose of participating in this challenge has been to increase my skills as a professional blogger.  To assist with increasing traffic flow to my blog site as well as reciprocating others.

Links are important Using Blog Links is a great article instructing you how to link blogs together.

Linking blog sites means that now when I publish a new post, my followers will get notifications  (if they’ve choosen that options)  in a much quicker time.

Has this traffic challenge worked?

YES, Yes it has! My Alexa rankings have improved as well as I’ve had the opportunity to meet other bloggers.

I wrote about the Power Affiliate Club all the time.  I’m excited to have meet so many other bloggers, authors and writers which want to see other people succeed.

During these last four weeks my blog site has attracted seven new followers,  increased my Alexia rankings and has been a while whole lot of fun.

Connect and engage with other bloggers.   Be adventurous,  go out on a limb, get out of the box.

Has this been helpful to You?

Are You Driving Traffic To Your Blog Or Sitting In A Traffic Jam?

I’ve been blogging for over three years now.  It wasn’t until a year ago that I started to become more serious. Getting noticed was hard.  Was it the content in my articles?  Was it the boaring words putting potential new readers to sleep?

Pinpointing the problems wasn’t easy as a new blogger until I found a group called the Power Affiliate Club Becoming A PAC Expert Author has given me the opportunities to explore more topics, gain a better understanding of using certain techniques to gain more followers.

An article by PAC Founder and Expert Author Lesly Frederic, RN It’s Not Enough To Just Have A Blog brings things into focus for writing your blog.  In it she writes;

You Already Have An Audience

Surround yourself with the audience you develop because they like you and LIKE your personality.

I’ve learned alot from Lesly Frederic and the Power Affiliate Club authors and social media communities. Plugging into other blogging communities has changed my perspective on using long tail keywords as explained in this article by Robin Khokhar.  Another blogger who is making a difference.

Plugging In

Plug yourself into other writing social media groups.  I know I talk alot about PAC, I must because of know one spreads the word how can a community grow.

Another group is the Blogging Syndication Tribe on Facebook.

This is a closed group and you must ask to join.

In closing seek those who want to see you achieve success.  Hang with like minded people.  You’re not going to be liked by everyone.  I’m not liked by everyone.  That’s alright with me!

I’d rather attract traffic to my site with people seeking to be coached infamy areas then be the top and biggest thing on the internet.

Has this post helped you?
