My Top 10 Favorite Christmas Songs

Music is good for the soul. Bringing joy, sadness, laughter, healing and more.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I love everything about it. In my article titled My Top 5 Christmas Gifts is even more evidence how gifts bring joy to someone’s life.

There are so many songs to choose from. However these are my all time favorites.

10. White Christmas by Bing Crosby

“I’m dreaming of a white Christmas just like the ones I used to know”.

Not everyone has a white Christmas. If you live in an even tempered climate sunshine may be all one experiences. How do you get along without a snowy holiday? There is nothing better than a Colorado confiti holiday.

The movie White Christmas starring Bing Crosby also is a classic.

9. Silent Night by Elvis Presley

The king of rock and roll and his sexy soulful voice makes any women’s heart joyful during the season.

8. I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas

This video, click the link above ☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️ is too cute.
Did you know: Hippos live in loose groups of ten to thirty individuals, that may swell to hundreds depending on the season? Look it up on Animal Facts Encyclopedia along with other animal facts.

7. Little Drummer Boy

This particular version is done by David Bowie and Bing Crosby. The twist is they mention peace on earth which is the biggest wish most people have for the holidays.

6. Hark The Herald Angles Sing

One of the most important praise and worship songs for the holy season.

Hark! the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the new-born King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild;
God and sinners reconciled.”
Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With angelic hosts proclaim,
“Christ is born in Bethlehem

Christ born in the promised city of Bethlehem.

5. Rocking Around The Christmas Tree

One of my most fondest memories growing up was decorating the Christmas tree with my parents and siging this song while we were going around the tree.

4. Hey Moon

Written by one of my favorite Christian music artists Sidewalk Prophets puts a new twist with its version of the star telling it’s story to the moon about birth of Jesus Christ.

3. Baby It’s Cold Outside

I just had to put this as number three. Whenever I hear it I want to light a fire, mix a cocktail and snuggle with my husband.

2. Please Come Home For Christmas

This one has a very special meaning for me. As a mother of a retired United States Army Veteran the words really brought on a new meaning when was in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Please come home for Christmas
Please come home for Christmas
If not for Christmas, by New Year’s night
Friends and relations send salutations
Sure as the stars shine above
But this is Christmas, yes, Christmas my dear
The time of year to be with the ones you love

Words cannot express what it feels like having someone you love fighting in a war so far from home. We are blessed that our son came home without any bodily injuries. On the downside PTSD is real and I watch him son struggle with the symptoms each and every day.

To those parents, siblings, wives, husband’s, children and family and friends of loved ones who were not so fortunate to return home, I send my love and support to you especially this time of year.

Okay, okay enough of the mushy stuff. Now back to my countdown.

My number one favorite song is……………………

Mary Did You Know

Written in 1984 by Mark Lowry. The song asks the questions to the Mary the birth mother of Jesus Christ,

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven’s perfect lamb?
That sleeping child you’re holding is the great I am
Mary did you know? Mary did you know? Mary did you know?

As women and a mothers we sense what are children may become when they are grown. We dream of the success we want them to become.

In my eyes Mary knew that her son was special. The promised messiah to the Jewish people who would become the Savior to the world.

Christmas such a special time of year. For most it can bring stress, heartache, depression and for others it brings joy, happiness, love and peace.

From our house to yours Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Happy New Year 2018

Last year was such a challenging year for me, both personally and professionally.

I’m so ready to move onto the new ventures of success in 2018.

Finding Purpose

After a four year absence from my chosen profession of Respiratory Therapy,  I thought I had found my way back into it for good.  That was until I lost my job right before Christmas.

Now faced with another challenge of looking for another way of bringing in income.   In my article titled,  multiple streams of income I make two very good points about having both a residual income and leveraged income.

Feeling like I’m back to square one is not my choice.  I’ve been in several network marketing companies over the years and I still struggle.

I wrote my book, Terror In The North Tower my dream was to become a number one best selling author.  Well my book is moving; however not as fast as I’d like it to.

Trying To Keep A Positive Attitude

Attitude is everything!

I’m choosing to be positive,  upbeat and claiming abundance for 2018.

Yes I am starting over.  Finding a new purpose is the challenge.  I’m sure as I release all negativity and toxic things from 2017 great things are left to follow.

Happy Happy New Year

Mother’s

My beautiful mother Barbara Hickock Agnew.

Mother’s

There are all different names for mothers, Mom, Mamma, Mother, Ma, Mum. What makes a mom so special? Is it the fact that she bring life into this world, then does her very best to guide, coach, educate, love and show forgiveness to her children?

Let’s not forget the other women whom are raising children, step mothers. Step Mothers are just as important as mothers. They love their step children just as if they had carried them for nine months and given birth.

Happy New Year 2017

Another year behind us and a new one lies infront of us.  I love new beginnings.  A new year brings us just that.

A chance to wipe the slate clean, pick ourselves up, moving forward into a bright new future.

I’m going to breakdown the meaning of all three words.

Happy

According to Google happy is a feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.

How does one show a feeling?  A smile, a post with happy faces, babies, puppies, kittens a favorite teams win.

When someone says; ” I just want you to be happy” what are they really saying?   Can we be happy without smiling, posting positve and uplifting sayings on social media?

I’ve learned to be content with my life just the way it is.  I may not have big fancy houses, top of the make in motor vehicles and all the material things that people associate with “happiness”.  What I do have is a loving husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends.  That makes me rich in happiness.

New

New is defined by Google dictonary as not exsiting before; made; introduced, or discovered recently or now for the first time.

Every day brings a new beginning. It is up to us to make it count.

Year

Merriam Webster defines year as

a :  the period of about 3651/4 solar days required for one revolution of the earth around the sunb :  the time required for the apparent sun to return to an arbitrary fixed or moving reference point in the skyc :  the time in which a planet completes a revolution about the sun <two Mercury years>

The whole of life is but a moment of time. It is our duty, therefore to use it, not to misuse it. -Plutarch

How will you use this year to your advantage?

I wish you all a healthy, positive, prosperious 2017!

As always…..

What Do You Mean It’s Thanksgiving

Every year in the United States of America we have this little holiday called Thanksgiving.

It’s supposed to be a time of reflection, gathering together with family and friends to be grateful for what one has.

This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the  Charlie Brown Thanksgiving cartoon.  Watch Charlie Browns Thanksgiving here.
I always loved Charlie Brown and his friends as they try to have a traditional thanksgiving dinner .

Snoopy does all the cooking.  While Woodstock attempts to assist with the preparations .

Charlie Brown of course is stuck in his usuall rut of aggravation, undecissiveness that goes along within his little part of life.

His best friend Linus always maintains a positive attitude no matter what is going on.  I loved this cartoon growing up because it shows us that holidays don’t have to be in the normal ways.

Every nationality can come together with one mind.  The mind of thankfulness .

What does the word thankful mean?  According to Dictionary.com it is a

feeling or expressing gratitude;

appreciative.

Can Charlie Brown find the things to be grateful for?  I’m not going to spoil it for you just in case you’ve never seen this episode.

Really there are people out there in this great big world that have never seen or heard of Charlie Brown .

The one thing I will tell you is see that kid at the head of the table? That is Linus.  The positive influence in Charlie’s life.  Always had the one thing to say that make a person think .

Thankfull

Things I’m thankful for are

1. YOU – without anyone reading my articles my words would just sit here taking up space never to be seen or shared.

2. God – Okay I know what your thinking .   Why, What. Without my belief in God I don’t know where I’d be today .

3.  My Husband and Family – I love my family .  They make this journey through life exciting.

4. Friends – We all have friends.  I have a few special ones that help to keep me somewhat level.

Lastly

Charlie Brown of course !

May you have a special Thanksgiving with your loved ones.

Please leave a comment on two things your thankful for.
