Spring And Asthma

SPRING IS HERE!
Most people love spring, unless they have allergies or asthma and allergies. Plants are blooming, most people look forward to the temperature is rising . Unless one has allergies or asthma that presents another issue.

According to the Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America

  • More than 50 million Americans have experienced various types  of allergies each year.13
  • Allergies are the 6th leading cause of chronic illness in the U.S.1
  • According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 1 in 13 people have asthma.1

Pollen is one of the most common triggers of  seasonal allergies.  Every spring and summer plants release tiny pollen grains to fertilize other plants of the same species. This pollen is carried by the wind to other plants which causes humans and animals to breathe it into their nose leading to the respiratory system.  More than 2 million emergency room visits  each year are related to asthma.

Keeping Pollen At Bay

In an article on  WebMD  titled Spring Asthma the author Kara Mayer Robinson outlines 7 ways to keep pollen at bay.

I suggest you read it when you have a chance.  Remember to avoid the outdoors from 5:00 am to 10:00 am when the pollen counts are highest.

Know Your Asthma Triggers

People with asthma have inflamed airways which are sensitive to things which may not bother other people. These things are “triggers”.  Avoiding your triggers is the best way to reduce your need for medicines and to prevent costly asthma episodes.

If you don’t know what triggers  your asthma this article titled; ” What Triggers or Causes Asthma” maybe helpful.

Have An Allergy and Asthma Management Plan

Having both an allergy and asthma management plan is the key to preventing allergic reactions and asthma symptoms.  I also recommend that you work with your doctor to help you create an easy plan for you to manage.

  • Take any medications as prescribed
  • Know which medication to take and when to take it
  • Know when to call your doctor
  • Know when to seek emergency medical care

Three Ways To Making Winning Connections

Your business is built on networking and connecting with the right people.

Network marketing events are a great way to connect with other like minded people. However just handing out a business card and hoping to get results is not going to get you very far.

First

One must decide what it is they want to achieve from meeting new people. For example, if you are in a health and wellness company and are looking for new people to join your organization, then it would benefit you to go to meetings about nutrition and fitness.

Second

Developing personal relationships is the greatest key factor to making a winning connection.

Recently I read an article by Martin Zwillining titled 5 Stratagies For Making Winning Business Connections he states, “Learn to work with people and build strong relationships “.

Building relationships helps others to trust in you. Trust in your belief system and your company.

Third

1. Write down your goals.

2. A great source I’ve used is the website meetup .com. Just plug in your area and what your interested in and a whole list of meetings will come up.

3. Be open minded. Connections can come from anywhere if you are looking in the right places.

I’ve found being friendly to others, showing caring, being concerned about another person helps make that connection work.

Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Hello January, Goodbye 2018

Happy New Year Everyone!

As 2018 is now over, my wish for you is to have courage, hope and faith to overcome any obsticals that may come your way.

Find joy in the everyday things not just the happy moments.

Have peace with yourself and with life. Without peace there’s no happiness. Without happiness no joy, without joy there is only sadness and hate.

This year in 2019 show love, be happy, love and care about your fellow man.

Resolutions are fine to have; however according to an article I found in Very Well Mind only 9% of people keep their resolutions.

Do you have any resolutions for this new year?

Happy New Year.

My Top 10 Favorite Christmas Songs

Music is good for the soul. Bringing joy, sadness, laughter, healing and more.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I love everything about it. In my article titled My Top 5 Christmas Gifts is even more evidence how gifts bring joy to someone’s life.

There are so many songs to choose from. However these are my all time favorites.

10. White Christmas by Bing Crosby

“I’m dreaming of a white Christmas just like the ones I used to know”.

Not everyone has a white Christmas. If you live in an even tempered climate sunshine may be all one experiences. How do you get along without a snowy holiday? There is nothing better than a Colorado confiti holiday.

The movie White Christmas starring Bing Crosby also is a classic.

9. Silent Night by Elvis Presley

The king of rock and roll and his sexy soulful voice makes any women’s heart joyful during the season.

8. I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas

This video, click the link above ☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️ is too cute.
Did you know: Hippos live in loose groups of ten to thirty individuals, that may swell to hundreds depending on the season? Look it up on Animal Facts Encyclopedia along with other animal facts.

7. Little Drummer Boy

This particular version is done by David Bowie and Bing Crosby. The twist is they mention peace on earth which is the biggest wish most people have for the holidays.

6. Hark The Herald Angles Sing

One of the most important praise and worship songs for the holy season.

Hark! the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the new-born King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild;
God and sinners reconciled.”
Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With angelic hosts proclaim,
“Christ is born in Bethlehem

Christ born in the promised city of Bethlehem.

5. Rocking Around The Christmas Tree

One of my most fondest memories growing up was decorating the Christmas tree with my parents and siging this song while we were going around the tree.

4. Hey Moon

Written by one of my favorite Christian music artists Sidewalk Prophets puts a new twist with its version of the star telling it’s story to the moon about birth of Jesus Christ.

3. Baby It’s Cold Outside

I just had to put this as number three. Whenever I hear it I want to light a fire, mix a cocktail and snuggle with my husband.

2. Please Come Home For Christmas

This one has a very special meaning for me. As a mother of a retired United States Army Veteran the words really brought on a new meaning when was in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Please come home for Christmas
Please come home for Christmas
If not for Christmas, by New Year’s night
Friends and relations send salutations
Sure as the stars shine above
But this is Christmas, yes, Christmas my dear
The time of year to be with the ones you love

Words cannot express what it feels like having someone you love fighting in a war so far from home. We are blessed that our son came home without any bodily injuries. On the downside PTSD is real and I watch him son struggle with the symptoms each and every day.

To those parents, siblings, wives, husband’s, children and family and friends of loved ones who were not so fortunate to return home, I send my love and support to you especially this time of year.

Okay, okay enough of the mushy stuff. Now back to my countdown.

My number one favorite song is……………………

Mary Did You Know

Written in 1984 by Mark Lowry. The song asks the questions to the Mary the birth mother of Jesus Christ,

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven’s perfect lamb?
That sleeping child you’re holding is the great I am
Mary did you know? Mary did you know? Mary did you know?

As women and a mothers we sense what are children may become when they are grown. We dream of the success we want them to become.

In my eyes Mary knew that her son was special. The promised messiah to the Jewish people who would become the Savior to the world.

Christmas such a special time of year. For most it can bring stress, heartache, depression and for others it brings joy, happiness, love and peace.

From our house to yours Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

A Quaint Bed And Breakfast Inn Located In Broomfield, Colorado

There’s a quaint little bed and breakfast called The Hilltop Inn and Suites located in Broomfield, Colorado.

I stayed there last weekend with my daughter and grandaughter to celebrate my grandaughters thirteenth birthday.

As you approach the Metro Airport, off to the right sits a building with signs pointing the way to the Hilltop Inn and the Burns Pub.

This charming pub will take you back to the days Britan long ago. Serving authentic British food and a nice pal ale makes a great eating place for anyone.

Did you know they’re are over three hundred fifty different whiskeys? I had know idea. They even have a whisky tasting room and whisky bingo.

Another unique feature is

the Wildflowers Tea Room. Authentic English teas and pastries are available.

I believe I broke some of the rules according to this sign.

Of course I did forget to pack a dagger or sword so maybe I’m in the clear.

I hope if you’re ever in Broomfield, Colorado you get a chance to check it out.

Make a reservation today.
